LONGER BIO

I’m a publishing and marketing executive working to build publishing programs, increase sales, and grow audiences through impactful and innovative products, partnerships, initiatives, and campaigns.

Currently I’m on the leadership team working to build a new publishing venture at Blackstone Publishing. Exciting, innovative programs are being established and many milestones are being achieved — hitting bestseller lists; Indie Next, Library Reads, and Book of the Month selections; major award wins; top media and review coverage; and main stage bookings at key conferences and trade shows.

Formerly I was the digital director at Knopf / Doubleday (Penguin Random House) and Abrams Books. Highlights include leading campaigns for some of the biggest authors in the world, including John Grisham, Dan Brown, Anne Rice, Cheryl Strayed, Haruki Murakami and many more, as well as spearheading influential digital firsts, including the app for Julia Child’s classic cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking, as well as the first enhanced ebooks for projects like Harry Belafonte’s My Song and Robert Reich’s New York Times bestselling Beyond Outrage.

Incorporating teaching and training into my professional life has been an important constant in my career, allowing me to share knowledge and get inspired by the illuminating perspectives of learners. I’ve developed curricula and taught publishing and marketing courses at NYU, including “Digital Trends in the Book Industry” and “Digital Storytelling Platforms and Methods,” as well as online courses focused on digital marketing at Mediabistro. I’ve presented and led workshops/panels at conferences such as the Flathead River Writers Conference, NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute, and Yale’s Publishing Course, as well as spearheaded large-scale digital publishing seminars for major publishing groups in the US, Argentina, and China. I’ve also served on the Digital Committee at Poets & Writers, advising this venerable literary organization on its digital initiatives and strategy.

I’m the author of several books, including 52 Projects: Random Acts of Everyday Creativity, published by Perigee/Penguin Random House, and my poetry, stories, and photography have recently been published by Okay Donkey, X-R-A-Y Literary Magazine, Memoir Mixtapes, Nightingale & Sparrow, and Vamp Cat Magazine, among other literary journals. My short films include Unsettled, which premiered at Atticus Review, and Body of Water, and I co-produced the #TalkTraffic video series for the New York Anti-Trafficking Network.
