HELLO, I’M JEFFREY YAMAGUCHI, a writer, published author, and book marketing expert exploring innovative ways to creatively market publishing projects. I'm currently working directly with authors and publishers to successfully launch their books and build publishing programs.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the good fortune of leading campaigns for some of the most celebrated, bestselling authors in the world, as well as writers just launching their careers and publishing their first books. I’ve also had the opportunity to run marketing and publicity departments at publishers large and small, including Knopf Doubleday (Penguin Random House), HarperCollins, Abrams Books, The New Press, and Blackstone Publishing.
I've taught publishing and marketing courses at NYU and Mediabistro, and have presented and led workshops at conferences such as the Flathead River Writers Conference, the Denver Publishing Institute, University of King's College MFA Residency, the Savannah College of Art and Design Bootcamp, NYU’s Summer Publishing Institute, and the Yale Publishing Course. I've also served on the Digital Committee at Poets & Writers.
I’m the author of several books, including 52 Projects: Random Acts of Everyday Creativity and Working for the Man, both published by Perigee/Penguin Random House, and my poetry, stories, collages, short films, and photography have been published by Black Bough Poetry, The Storms, The Hyacinth Review, Kissing Dynamite, Feral Journal, Boats Against the Current, and the Atticus Review, among many other literary journals. My poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize, and my flash fiction story “Last Day Cupcakes'' — published at Okay Donkey — was longlisted for the Wigleaf Top 50 and selected for publication in the Best Small Fictions 2024 anthology.
Lastly, I serve on the planning and fundraising committees of the Jerome Rohwer Pilgrimage, and I am working on a project about the photographs my Grandfather took while he was incarcerated at the Rohwer concentration camp during WWII.
